Every Detour Changes Us
But not every change is a setback.
Sometimes things don’t go as planned.
Wednesday was supposed to be my very first Substack Live.
The link was set. The reminder was posted. I had my tea and my talking points.
But Substack glitched—no livestream, no recording, no digital trace that it ever happened.
Thursday, my husband was scheduled for a simple outpatient procedure.
Instead, they admitted him overnight. (He’s okay, thank goodness.)
Today, I was supposed to be hosting yet another Substack Live.
Instead, I’m sitting in a quiet hotel room, typing this between nurse updates and check-out time, waiting to bring him home.
Life didn’t ask my permission to change the plan.
It rarely does.
Most days, it’s not as dramatic.
A phone call pulls your energy sideways.
An employee does something that makes you question reality.
The bank turns down the loan.
The IRS sends one of its cryptic love notes.
The baby wakes up early. The tech doesn’t cooperate. The numbers don’t add up.
I don’t know who said it first, but I’ve loved this quote for years:
“No plan survives execution.”
And still—we plan. We set intentions. We name desires.
Not because we need control.
But because anchoring to something helps us move.
But when things go sideways?
We have choices.
We can bury our heads in our arms.
Pretend it’s fine when it’s clearly not.
Or pause, breathe, and adjust.
(Sometimes all three. In that exact order.)
This post isn’t about silver linings.
It’s about being real with the mess.
Not bypassing disappointment, but letting it soften into redirection.
You’re not broken if things fell apart this week.
You’re not behind if the launch had to be pushed.
You’re not failing just because the plan changed.
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is let the map re-draw itself.
And when we’re ready—we lift our heads and try again.
👉 Reflection Prompt:
What part of your plan feels like it’s crumbling—and what might it be clearing space for?
🔥 Daily Affirmation:
I allow the plan to evolve.
I respond with clarity and care.
I trust the redirection.
Every pivot reveals my power.
PS: Profit is Protest. And sometimes, that protest looks like pivoting with grace instead of pushing through the wreckage.
🎧 Song of the Day: “Resilient” by Katy Perry

That's one of the main things I've learned about surrender and letting go of control. The don't mean not setting intentions or having dreams. It's making tiny choices every single day
