One Year In
The Revolution Began With a Blank Page and a Pulse
A year ago, I hit publish with a racing heart, trembling hands, and a full-body hell yeah.
No polished launch. No marketing funnel worthy of a Facebook circle jerk. No tidy little brand architecture blessed by men named Brad with conversion metrics.
Just truth. Just heat. Just heart.
Just a woman with thirty years inside the financial system finally deciding to say the quiet parts out loud.
I was done pretending spreadsheets were neutral.
Done pretending burnout was a leadership strategy.
Done pretending founders should build movements while surviving on adrenal fatigue, skipped paychecks, and whatever dignity remained after another “pick my brain” coffee meeting.
So I started writing.
And somewhere between the essays on nervous systems and profit margins…
Between the sacred rage and the bookkeeping reconciliations…
Between the tenderness and the teeth…
Profit is Protest clawed its way into existence.
Rebel Rooted, Soul Led, Financially Feral.
A battle cry wrapped in silk.
Because every time a queer founder pays themselves well, something ancient cracks. Every time a woman stops apologizing for her prices, a lineage shifts. Every time a healer learns their numbers instead of hiding from them, extraction loses a little more ground.
That’s what this has always been about for me.
Reclamation.
Of money. Of agency. Of rest. Of desire. Of more than enoughness. Of the right to build a wildly profitable life without abandoning yourself at the altar of productivity.
This Substack became a gathering place for people who could feel the old systems rotting beneath their feet.
People who want wealth with a conscience. People who want strategy that can survive contact with an actual human nervous system. People who understand instinctively that prosperity expands differently when shame stops driving the car.
And holy shit, did we build something together.
We built language for experiences people had spent years trying to explain.
Receipt. “Or Better”. Capacity. “Serving From the Saucer.” Boringly profitable. “Your nervous system is your first CFO.”
Profit as reclamation. Prosperity as a lived relationship rather than a performance. Overflow as community care.
These ideas stopped belonging solely to me somewhere along the way.
They became ours. And that feels holy in the truest sense of the word.
There is also something exquisitely funny about the fact that an accountant accidentally started a revolution with metaphors, EFT tapping, and an aggressively emotional relationship with spreadsheets.
Honestly, the IRS never saw this coming. 💋
Yet beneath the poetry sits something deeply practical.
I have watched readers raise their prices. Pay off debt. File years of overdue taxes. Leave exploitative clients. Take vacations. Hire support. Open savings accounts. Ask for help.
And my personal fav; Feel pleasure around money for the first time in their lives and stop flinching at their own success.
That matters to me more than any vanity metric ever could.
Because this was always bigger than content.
This was always about restoration and revolution. About building spaces where people could learn the soul and science of money simultaneously.
About creating conversations where strategic rigor and tenderness could sit at the same table, passing the mashed potatoes back and forth like old friends.
And selfishly?
You changed me too.
This Substack sharpened my voice. Deepened my courage. Expanded my own capacity to be witnessed. Strengthened my devotion to the work.
You gave me evidence that people are hungry for conversations with texture.
Nuance. Humanity. Fire. Precision.
Hope.
And we are still just getting started.
The next year feels less like scaling and more like deepening.
More resonance. More embodiment. More community. More audacity. More liberation. More exquisite prosperity held in steady hands.
The banquet table keeps getting longer.

It feels insane that it's only been a year Shaneh! It feels like I've been reading your words for years! If there's one thing I've taken from your writing it's this: I'm worthy and completely deserving in sitting fully within prosperity and luxury. That's what I'm born for. I'm not here for compromises or justifications. Nowadays the "worthiness" doesn't even come in my mind. If I want something, I want something...period. No explanations.
