The Story Is the Spell
A love letter to long-winded brilliance and heroic bookkeeping
Hi, I’m Shaneh (shay-nuh) Woods.
And I don’t write short things.
I write in poetic prose and strategic spirals.
Wordy AF—on purpose.
Because the long way isn’t a detour.
It’s a devotion.
(And if you haven’t read the five-post saga of how I bought my dream island home… scroll back to October 13th. It’s strategy, surrender, spreadsheets, and sacred fire. You’ll need snacks.)
My brain writes like it walks through antique bookstores—wandering, touching spines, losing track of time, and finding the exact sentence I didn’t know I needed.
Side quests are my second language.
Parentheses are portals.
People ask me to “get to the point,” and honestly?
I could,
but then you’d miss out on the magic.
Because the point is rarely the point.
The journey is the genius.
The meander is the map.
My words are meant to wrap around you slowly,
like steam from your favorite mug,
like wind shifting through tall grass,
like truth you didn’t expect to be ready for.
When I tell the whole story, something sacred happens:
You find your reflection inside it.
You cast yourself as the hero.
You remember you’re not late, you’re right on time.
Every few years, the world is captivated by the Olympics.
The world-class talent is staggering.
But what we remember are the stories:
— the comeback after injury
— the heartbreak at the edge of gold
— the athlete who says “I’ll be back” and actually means it
The numbers are impressive.
But it’s the meaning that moves us.
That’s how I feel about accounting.
Yes, really.
Because how do you write about reconciling receipts and make someone feel something? How do you talk about profit margins without sounding like a retirement brochure? How do you bring a spreadsheet to life?
You tell the whole story.
You make the reconciliation a resurrection.
You turn the P&L into prophecy.
You don’t flatten it—you unfold it.
Because I’m not just crunching numbers.
I’m restoring order.
Breaking curses.
Funding dreams.
Reclaiming agency.
And I do it through the soul and science of money.
That’s the real plot twist.
Every day I hold clients through their own plot twists—
as a CFO, Bookkeeper, Money Coach, Writer, Collaborator, Wife, Witch, and 100 other true names I carry.
So bring me your data.
Bring me your story.
Bring me your next brave ask.
Let’s meet at the oasis between too much and not enough.
Let’s write this next chapter like we mean it.
👉 Reflection Prompt:
Where are you being asked to shrink your story to fit someone else’s attention span?
What might expand if you told the truth with your whole chest?
🔥 Daily Affirmation:
I know that my words are magic.
I see the wisdom in my wander.
I speak with reverence, humor, and heat.
I love the way my stories hold others.
I lead with fullness and flair.
I trust my rhythm and my range.
I am the story and the spell.
PS: Profit is Protest and so is telling the whole story.
Every detour, every side quest, every sacred tangent—it’s all part of how you reclaim the narrative. No more boiling your brilliance down to bullet points. No more shrinking to fit someone else’s frame.
Your receipts carry myth. Your numbers carry meaning. Your lived experience has never been excess—it’s evidence.
And your profit has always been a plotline worth following.

Also hoping a little of your spiritual love of accounting flows over and into me. 😍
I love long form. Never was a Twitter fan and less of X... I can’t say what I want to say in 140 characters. Words have power. Keep sharing.
