In my business, "bookkeeping" pays the bills - It's a zone of excellence for me - but after 30 years, I don't want to personally do it anymore, but because I thrive at confluence of the soul and the science of money I won't ever give it up fully - so for me it's been about training bookkeepers who do the work to my standards - freeing me up to have the big conversations with my clients which is the work that I have a real passion for.
I have a client who instead bundles the work they adore with the thing they do that is the easiest to sell.
There are so many ways to set up a business so that you are energized by the work you do without destroying what you love (like my love of chocolate).
Everyone needs a friend who gifts like you do! Those are some labors of love for sure.
This is really good food for thought. I find I'm always balancing what I love versus what pays the bills. I wish that one could be the other!
